Screech, whom I have always considered the star of "Saved by the Bell" (I've said it before, I'll say it again: Zach was gay and Slater was his lover. All you need to see is the bootleg, never aired episode from the last season titled "I Wish I Could Quit You" where they both come out of the closet and annouce their relationship. It was found to be too edgy at the time (1993). Man, how have times changed) is apparently in dire straights and is selling t-shirts to pay for his home, currently in foreclosure. In a situation that must surely share the same riches to rags stories as MC Hammer and anyone who has been on "The Surreal Life," Screech hopes to raise $250,000.

From Foxnews.com:

MILWAUKEE — More than a bell is needed to save Dustin Diamond this time around. Diamond, best known as geeky Screech Powers on the 1989-1993 teen comedy series "Saved by the Bell," is selling T-shirts with his photo on them to try to raise $250,000 so he doesn't lose his gray two-story house under a foreclosure order.
"If the public didn't care, I as an entertainer wouldn't have been a success," he said.

Diamond, 29, is trying to sell nearly 30,000 shirts — at $15 or $20 (autographed) each — to supplement the income he makes as a standup comic so he doesn't have to move from his Port Washington home, about 25 miles north of Milwaukee.

The T-shirt has a photo of Diamond holding a sign that says, "Save My House." The back of the shirt reads, "I paid $15.00 to save Screeech's house." The third "e" was added to get around copyright laws, he said.

He's selling the shirts on his Web site: http://www.getdshirts.com.

The foreclosure order was filed last month in Ozaukee County Circuit Court, Ozaukee County Circuit Court.

Diamond appeared on Howard Stern's satellite radio show Tuesday to plead his case. "I'm doing great with my comedy, but this is definitely a low point," he said. "Real life comes in and affects you."

Diamond doesn't have a listed phone number, and e-mails to the address on his Web site and at an alternative address were not immediately returned Thursday.

Looks like the BushHitler's economy has claimed another victim where the rich get richer and the obscure, b-list celebrities have to live like the rest of us. For shame…

oh…and WE DIDN'T LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bush’s Pledge to Cut the Deficit in Half by 2009 Might Happen This Year… June 13, 2006, 9:44 pm

Three years early?  Get out!  I want to party with you man!

From Investor's Business Daily:

Aided by surging tax receipts, President Bush may make good on his pledge to cut the deficit in half in 2006 — three years early. Tax revenues are running $176 billion, or 12.9%, over last year, the Treasury Department said Monday. The Congressional Budget Office said receipts have risen faster over the first eight months of fiscal '06 than in any other such period over the past 25 years — except for last year's 15.5% jump. The 2006 deficit through May was $227 billion, down from $273 billion at this time last year. Spending is up $130 billion, or 7.9%. The CBO forecast in May that the 2006 deficit could fall as low as $300 billion. Michael Englund, chief economist of Action Economics, has long expected a deficit of about $270 billion this year. Now he thinks there's a chance the "remarkable strength in receipts" will push the deficit even lower. With the economy topping $13 trillion this year, a $270 billion deficit would equal less than 2.1% of GDP, easily beating the president's 2.25% goal. Bush made his vow when the White House had a dour 2004 deficit forecast of 4.5% of GDP, or $521 billion. The actual '04 deficit came in at $412 billion, or 3.5% of GDP, before falling to $318 billion, or 2.6% of GDP, in 2005. A CBO analysis last week noted that withheld individual income and payroll taxes are up 7.6% from a year ago, with the gains picking up in recent months. "Those gains suggest solid growth in wages and salaries in the national economy," CBO said. While gains are broad, those at higher-income levels are enjoying bigger salary hikes. Because they pay higher rates, federal tax revenues soar when they do well. Those making over $200,000 now pay 46.6% of total income taxes, presidential adviser Karl Rove recently said. That's up from 40.5% — despite Bush's tax cuts. Nonwithheld income tax receipts are up about 20% vs. a year ago. That may reflect year-end bonuses and capital gains. Corporate income taxes are up about 30% from last year's pace. While economic growth is producing impressive tax revenue gains, budget experts say they won't be enough to wipe out deficits, especially as baby boomers retire. Englund thinks the deficit could hit $150 billion if the expansion lasts two or three more years. "When we go into a downturn, the numbers reverse," he said. Long-term growth in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid "threaten to force either European-style tax increases, unprecedented spending cuts or unprecedented debt," said Heritage Foundation budget expert Brian Riedl. "There's no growing out of the long-term budget problems." Heritage sees an $800 billion deficit in 2016, assuming tax cuts are extended and spending stays on its present course. If the economy and tax receipts continue to outperform, the deficit would still be at least $600 billion, Riedl said. He noted Congress has been more disciplined about discretionary spending lately. But that saves a mere $10 billion a year, he said. Late last week, House and Senate negotiators reached a deal to hold a supplemental spending bill for Iraq, Afghanistan and hurricane relief to under $94.5 billion. The Senate had tacked on another $14 billion, but Bush vowed to veto any bill above $94.5 billion.

FINALLY!!!  It's about time that our hegemonistic foray into the middle east started paying some dividends.  Personally, I blame Haliburton.

On a serious note, can you imagine how big the surpluses would be if spending were actually held in check from where it was in 2000, allowing for only modest growth?  Good Lord.

It's always nice to know that you pick up on the same things as other great minded people, and even beat them to the punch. Yesterday, I wrote about the Canadian terror suspects playing the terrorist playbook step by step and today, Charles Johnson of Littlegreenfootballs.com had the same sentiment in a post called Canadian Jihadis Play by the Book.

Update: Lee over at Right Thinking from the West Coast chimes in as well

As much as the world needs Chuck Norris or Jack Bauer, it also needs a cold dose of John McClane. There's a scene in Die Hard where Hans and his buddies in Nakatomi Plaza need the power cut in order to break through the last lock on the safe that contains upwards of $600 Million in loot. One of the reasons that they posed as terrorists instead of high profile robbers was to ensure FBI involvement. The following takes place as Theo is working on drilling the physical locks and warns Hans about the impossibility of the last lock:

Theo: And you better be right because this one's going to take a miracle.

Hans: It's Christmas, Theo, it's the time of miracles. So be a good cheer and call me when you hit the last lock.

Theo: You better heat up that miracle you were talking about. We broke through on Number Six, and the Electromagentic came down like a sledgehammer…

Hans: Well have a look at what our friends outside are doing and I'll be right up.

Theo: There's the city engineers…they're going into the street circuits. But who are those other guys?

Hans: That's the FBI…ordering them to cut the building's power. They're as regular as clockwork…

Theo: or a time lock!

Hans: The circuits that cannot be cut locally are cut automatically in response to a terrorist incident. You ask for miracles Theo, I give you the FBI

McClane: Powell, What's going on?

Powell: Ask the FBI. They've got the terrorist playbook and they're running it step by step.

Well, the real terrorists also have a playbook for when they get caught and they are also running it step by step. Remember those guys that were picked up in Canada last week for wanting to express their dismay with the current administration planning to blow up several federal buildings and behead the God damn prime minister? Well, let's consult the playbook:

Step 1) Instead of worrying about what people are doing in your name and religion, immediately downplay everything and actually complain about a backlash that isn't actually happening against innocent Muslims, making Muslims the "true" victims here.

Ummm, check.

Step 2) Immediately make accusations of torture while being detained, so we know that the innocent Muslims accidently caught up in the government's implicitly rascist manhunt for an artificial boogeyman are the victims and the government is the evil, preening threat to humanity. From today's Toronto Star…Check!!!!

"Tiny solitary cells under constant illumination, a mere 20 minutes of fresh air daily, and beatings at the hands of guards are indicative of the "torture" endured by some of the 17 people accused of plotting terrorist attacks in Canada, lawyers for the group said Monday.

The allegations of "cruel and unusual punishment" came as the court imposed a blanket publication ban on the legal proceedings, preventing the public from learning of any further evidence in a case of stunning allegations that has captured headlines around the world. The treatment of the suspects, accused of plotting a number of terrorist strikes in Ontario that allegedly included bombings and taking senior politicians hostage, "constitutes torture," lawyer Rocco Galati said outside the court."

There are a few more steps I won't bother with now for brevity's sake, and this would be funny if it weren't so damn sad and predictable. Of course, none of this crap would work if the world weren't filled with people who lap this shit up.

Basic was a breeze, almost disappointingly so and I'm waiting to enjoy my advanced training for my specific job in Military Intelligence. Basically, that translates into "I now have time to return to the blog." Frankly I'm surprised that the world continued to keep spinning. Of course, maybe it didn't and Superman came back to spin the world backwards, thus reversing space time and fixing the problem lickety split (cause we all know that space time is completely dependent on the rotation of the third planet from the star Sol, right Stephen Hawking).

Well, That’s it…I’m Outtie! February 14, 2006, 3:10 pm

Life 3.0 is about to begin for dear ol’ Quintapalus. What are you talking about, you ask? Well, I’ve up and joined the Army, and I leave for boot in a day. I’ll be journaling the experience on paper and will post the whole thing when I get back, but needless to say, you won’t hear any more incoherent ramblings from Quinto for a few months.

Maybe I just wanted to be the first kid on my block with a confirmed kill or maybe my psychological profile indicated a certain “moral flexibility,” but in any case (and all movie references aside), put me down for 5. Since I’m too old to find myself in a foxhole with a big gun, I’ll be taking my turn at Military Intelligence.

Wish me luck and I’ll talk to you soon.

Well, that’s not quite what he said, but what are we to make of his statement regarding the rioting in Gaza over freakin’ cartoons (for initial coverage of the cartoons, go here):

[he] condemned the caricatures, saying they “provoke all Muslims everywhere in the world.” He asked gunmen not to attack foreigners, “but we warn that emotions may flare in this very sensitive issues.”

Sure I could ask the GUNMEN not to attack innocent people whose only fault is they happen to have the same nationality as a the guy who made these comics, but you see, we have these pesky things called emotions, and these “emotions” may flare, and when they flare we cannot control ourselves and are forced to do things like make death threats and threaten kidnappings. Hey don’t get mad at me – it’s in the Koran!!

By all means, let’s give these people a state. Sheesh.

Last week it came out that Cindy Sheehan threatened Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) that she would run against her if she didn’t join in filibustering Judge Alito. It worked on poor ol’ DiFi as she did a complete 180 and announced, after previously saying she saw no reason to, her support for a filibuster; however, it created the spark, nay, a brief moment in time, a split-second really where Cindy Sheehan supporters went from enjoying this gesture to thinking this would be a great thing to actually happen.

This is it folks. This is that millionth of second of silence that precedes a thermonuclear warhead before it destroys all life within 50 square miles.

This is the singularity.

And the best part is that they have a WEBSITE!! Man, I’m getting shivers. More cowbell, people, more cowbell!!

Without further ado, I give you Cindy For Senate.
