Here’s one of the myriad works of art that was created from the original footage.  If you are interested in the original footage that poor Ghyslain captured himself, you can view it here.  There are literally dozens of short films based off of this footage of varying quality.  This one here has some pretty good production value.  Enjoy!

Finally, a BitTorrent Client I Can Make Sweet, Sweet Love to November 28, 2005, 5:36 pm

I’m not really a one BitTorrent client man, you see. I have my own hopes, desires and needs and tend to be a pretty selfish person in general. There just isn’t much room in my life for dealing with needy programs. I am high maintenance; my BitTorrent client shouldn’t be. I used to use Azureus, a Java based client, but running this bloated, memory hog of an app got old real quick. Simpler clients like BitTornado open a new instance for each torrent you are trying to download, and that gets pretty annoying. After doing some research to see what else is out there, I finally found what I have been looking for. It’s real early in the relationship and I don’t want to jinx it, but I think I am in love. It’s name is uTorrent (which can be found here).  It’s absolutely miniscule compared to other BitTorrent software (only  105K!!) and typically uses about 6MB of RAM when in use.  The interface is simple and clean, and it does everything that I need.  I’m really happy so far and, God willing, I will be for sometime.  Wish us luck!

The story is a few days old, but there was always a part of it that I found too funny not to comment on.

“The Foreign Ministry said his behavior was unacceptable and that Cohen might be serving political orders to tarnish Kazakhstan’s reputation.”

Political orders? Cohen???? Hmmmm, what am I missing here?? OH, RIGHT! The JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn those evil Zionists; always keeping the black man Kazakh down!

Pension Funds Continue Journey Towards Implosion November 27, 2005, 5:29 pm

Well, this New York Times article doesn’t explicity say that, but the end result of this manoever has a high probability of ending up that way. The article details how more and more pension fund managers are investing larger shares of their monies in hedge funds.

For those not in the know, hedge funds are like the original version of day traders. They play fast and loose in a low to non-existent regulated environment. Many of the positions they take are very short term in nature as their idea is to move ahead of or contrary to the market to realize higher gains. The goal is like any investment vehicle, in that it is to make their clients money, but their real unpromisable promise, is to beat market no matter what and generate very high returns. It’s your typical high risk, high reward deal. It’s so risky, in fact, that some of the only rules surrounding them is the minimum level of investment. Hedge funds are pretty much an “only millionaires need apply.” The idea being that if you have this much money, you are smart enough to know the risks involved. It supposed to keep mom and dad middle America from being wooed by a 60% return of a certain fund and putting their $10K of hard earned money into it, only to lose it all. It’s kind of a condescending bit of regulation that totally shirks individual responsibility, but in this day and age, I guess I can understand. Now that we have that bit of background information out of the way, let’s get on to the story.

…which means it’s Mark Steyn day! Not that he doesn’t write columns on other days, but his syndicated columns for the Chicago Sun-Times have become a Sunday morning ritual for me. He is considered to be one of today’s best columnists for his brilliant prose and ability to turn a phrase that has very few peers. Needless to say, read it all, for it rocks the proverbial Casbah.

Remember that story about Bush wanting to bomb Al-jazeera? November 26, 2005, 11:24 pm

Here is Yahoo’s account for the back story. Al-jazeera is making a big stink out of it, but really, when I originally heard the story, my first thought was “who didn’t?” I mean, I would be surprised if it wasn’t brought up and discussed. It’s so absurd that anyone would find this shocking that it reminded me immediately of episode 9F22 of “The Simpsons”, the classic Cape Fear episode. For those readers who don’t have all Simpson’s episodes memorized, this episode covers Sideshow Bob getting parolled for the 56th time and trying yet again to kill Bart, all while parodying “Cape Fear.” During Sideshow Bob’s trial, Selma testifies that Bob tried to kill her on their honeymoon. The crowd in the courtroom whispers amongst themselves, shocked at the revelation. But then Bob’s lawyer (the blue haired, glasses wearing, slimy lawyer that usually works for Mr. Burns) asks “How many people in this court are thinking of killing her right now?” A few people in the courtroom slowly raise their hands. The lawyer then presses with a “Be honest!” and almost all the hands slowly go up around the courtroom, even a priest. Hell, even her sister Patty raises her hands and declares, “Aw, she’s always leaving the toilet seat up.”

Absolutely hilarious.

Anyone with a blank stare on their face at this point is hereby ordered to close down their computer and report to the death room as you have no sense of humor. Hey, did I say “death room?” I meant “happy, fun room.” Yeah, that’s the ticket!
But seriously, being shocked over this revelation is like being surprised to find out that the world is actually run by 12 Jewish bankers, who meet tri-annually in a high-Earth orbit in their Death Star of David to make all of their secret plans.

What?

You didn’t know that?

Ignore that last part; I’ve said too much already.

That title alone should prove to be curious enough to click on this link and read Dafydd ab Hugh’s thoughts. And NO! it doesn’t have anything to do with a Middle East flavored Ashton Kutcher movie sequel.

Sad news from “Karate Grand Masters who impart their knowledge and strength to undeserving blubbering vaginas” (which, incidently, was the original title of the movie “The Karate Kid” but was later dropped as they had problems fitting it all on the movie poster).

Who could possibly forget these words of advice and wisdom:

“Walk on road.

Walk right side, safe. Walk left side, safe.

Walk middle, sooner or later,

you get squished just like grape.

Here, karate same thing.

Either you karate do, yes, or karate do, no.

You karate do, “guess so,” just like grape.

Understand?”

And all those memories will be lost, like tears in rain…unless of course you have the DVD.
