Okay, This Story is Too Delicious Not to Comment On January 21, 2006, 5:51 pm

The funny part about having a really solid economy under a Republican administration is that eventually, all the MSM doomsday reporting that downplays it will butt heads against basic fact and reality.
You might not remember this, but there was a poll last December that showed that 43% of Americans believe we are in a recession. During the 2004 election, we were told that the US is experiencing a Hoover-like economy with massive job losses and predictions of soup lines and hard times. It seems that story after story discussing the economy constantly puts it in the worst light possible. So, knowing that everything is going to hell in a hand basket, news stories like the following really come out of left field:

“Questions Abound Over Full Employment”

WASHINGTON — U.S. officials would have you believe America is nearing full employment — a heady, dangerous place where wage inflation threatens to push the economy past its boiling point. But analysts are not so sure. The disagreement is important, because it may determine how much further the Federal Reserve raises interest rates, how much more it costs consumers and businesses to pay down debt, and how quickly housing and the economy cool this year.

Funny, eh? I mean, how can we even be discussing the potential economic problems that arise when an economy reaches full employment when we are experiencing the worst economy since Herbert Hoover? Could it be that the economy isn’t the worst since the esteemed Mr. Hoover and that it is actually quite good? No, that couldn’t be it. After all, we are told almost daily that the economy sucks massive donkey cock.

But, that would mean that we aren’t being told the truth by the MSM or at best a tainted and biased version of the truth. THOSE BASTARDS!!!!

Like I always say, there is plenty of room for honest debate about the strengths and the weaknesses of our economy, but to call our economy bad is downright dishonest. However, this is done often enough where not only do a ridiculous amount of people actually believe we are in a recession, but any stories that do come out that favor the economy seem out of place and strange.
