Basic was a breeze, almost disappointingly so and I'm waiting to enjoy my advanced training for my specific job in Military Intelligence. Basically, that translates into "I now have time to return to the blog." Frankly I'm surprised that the world continued to keep spinning. Of course, maybe it didn't and Superman came back to spin the world backwards, thus reversing space time and fixing the problem lickety split (cause we all know that space time is completely dependent on the rotation of the third planet from the star Sol, right Stephen Hawking).

Great column as always, containing this absolute gem:

For example, Mariam Farahat, a mother of three, was elected in Gaza. She used to be a mother of six but three of her sons self-detonated on suicide missions against Israel. She’s a household name to Palestinians, known as Um Nidal — Mother of the Struggle — and, at the rate she’s getting through her kids, the Struggle’s all she’ll be Mother of.

Man, that’s some funny stuff. So do yourself a favor and read it all.

I’m an Audi TT!

You’re not the fastest, nor the most nimble, but you’re cute and you have style. You’re not intensely competitive, but when you pass by, everyone turns to look.

…from Jeff Goldstein over at Protein Wisdom discussing the latest happenings with Iran:

Let me put this as delicately as I can: when the EU is being rebuked as the hardliners in their attempts to prevent Iran from becoming nuclear armed, the world is about to be royally ass fucked by a big, cold, radioactive warhead. So long, and thanks for all the (gefilte) fish!

Granted, we are talking about nuclear annihilation so I should be sobbing after I finish chuckling, but still. Damn funny stuff. Oh and props on the allusion to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Juden style.

Okay, This Story is Too Delicious Not to Comment On January 21, 2006, 5:51 pm

The funny part about having a really solid economy under a Republican administration is that eventually, all the MSM doomsday reporting that downplays it will butt heads against basic fact and reality.
You might not remember this, but there was a poll last December that showed that 43% of Americans believe we are in a recession. During the 2004 election, we were told that the US is experiencing a Hoover-like economy with massive job losses and predictions of soup lines and hard times. It seems that story after story discussing the economy constantly puts it in the worst light possible. So, knowing that everything is going to hell in a hand basket, news stories like the following really come out of left field:

“Questions Abound Over Full Employment”

WASHINGTON — U.S. officials would have you believe America is nearing full employment — a heady, dangerous place where wage inflation threatens to push the economy past its boiling point. But analysts are not so sure. The disagreement is important, because it may determine how much further the Federal Reserve raises interest rates, how much more it costs consumers and businesses to pay down debt, and how quickly housing and the economy cool this year.

Funny, eh? I mean, how can we even be discussing the potential economic problems that arise when an economy reaches full employment when we are experiencing the worst economy since Herbert Hoover? Could it be that the economy isn’t the worst since the esteemed Mr. Hoover and that it is actually quite good? No, that couldn’t be it. After all, we are told almost daily that the economy sucks massive donkey cock.

But, that would mean that we aren’t being told the truth by the MSM or at best a tainted and biased version of the truth. THOSE BASTARDS!!!!

Like I always say, there is plenty of room for honest debate about the strengths and the weaknesses of our economy, but to call our economy bad is downright dishonest. However, this is done often enough where not only do a ridiculous amount of people actually believe we are in a recession, but any stories that do come out that favor the economy seem out of place and strange.
